November 15 – 21st is the 7th annual Financial Planning Week in Canada.  This is part of an ongoing effort to promote financial well-being and raise the awareness of engaging in financial planning with a qualified professional.  Canadians engaged in financial planning report significantly higher levels of satisfaction with their financial health and feel more confident on being on track to meet their financial and retirement goals.

Financial Planning Week started in 2009 with the vision that, by 2020, Canada will be shaped by the following goals:

  • Recognizing the value of financial planning
  • Sharing and assuming responsibility to ensure the financial planning needs of Canadians are well served
  • Having a viable financial planning profession that ensures that those who need professional advice have broad access to competent, ethical financial planners

Some of the planned activities will include a national television campaign on CBC, “Build Your Financial Plan with a CFP Professional” and a print feature in The Globe and Mail.

The Financial Planning Standards Council has launched a website: FinancialPlanningforCanadians.ca, dedicated to helping consumers through information, education and product-free advice.  The website is broken down into three main categories:

  • Life Happens: Read about various financial issues in each life stage
  • Here’s the Plan: Provides articles that will arm you with information to make informed choices when selecting a qualified financial planner
  • Make Your Voice Heard: Anyone can call themselves a financial planner without regulation.

Rogers Group Financial is committed to helping you achieve your financial and lifestyle goals through a planning-based approach.  Please contact your advisor to establish or update your financial plan.
